New study programme Cosmetology and Cosmetic Products successfully passed accreditation

The Faculty of Pharmacy has a big reason to celebrate because the expected follow-up Master's degree programme: Cosmetology and Cosmetic Products has received accreditation and will be open to the first students from the autumn semester of the academic year 2026/2027. It will be primarily offered to the graduates of the Bachelor programme: Cosmetic Products, but also for other applicants with a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields of education, such as Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy or Health Sciences. The follow-up programme comes as a response to the growing demand for professionals in the cosmetic industry, skin care, hair care and overall health and beauty.

The follow-up Master's Degree Cosmetology and Cosmetic Products is in many ways a continuation of similarly focused bachelor studies. It is a unique interdisciplinary programme that combines knowledge from several disciplines. "In recent years there has been a growing interest in effective and safe cosmetic products. Consumer demands are becoming more and more challenging in the field of traditional as well as natural or phytocosmetics. Students of this study programme will gain advanced knowledge and skills in the field of effects, formulation, preparation/manufacturing, innovative approaches as well as ecological, regulatory and ethical aspects of cosmetic products," says PharmDr. Tünde Ambrus, PhD, Vice Dean for Quality and Degree Programme Development of the Faculty of Pharmacy, who has been instrumental in the inception and success of the programme.

Future career paths of the Cosmetology and Cosmetic Products graduates will be broad, ranging from research and development in laboratories to regulatory bodies or consultancy activities in the field of education of the general and professional public. "The cosmetic industry has been on the rise for a long time. There are large multinational companies, as well as smaller local companies, operating in our country and abroad, which are looking for skilled people with the appropriate education to take up various positions with them. From meetings with our commercial partners, but also just at the Job Fair event, we can see how high the demand for our graduates is going to be," says Associate Professor PharmDr. Kateřina Kubová, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, who is also the guarantor of the entire study programme. The studies will also include an internship, which students will complete within several weeks directly with potential employers.

For now, the Cosmetic Products study programmes are only offered in the Czech language, however, in the upcoming years the faculty aims to extend the accreditation to offer the programmes in English as well.
